Danga Bay Games 2008

Finally it's over!!!.. yea.. training camp and competition this time round is finally over. Phew!!.. it was such a long and tiring journey.. Though now it's finally over, it still felt like yesterday when it all just started. I could still remember how we cried every night, how we complain to each other about our head coach for yelling at us like nobody's business, how we struggled through each training session, how we supported each other in every match.. etc etc. I must say.. i am really glad to have met such supportive and understanding teammates.. The team would never make it without them. I really appreciate and love each and everyone of them. Thank God for bringing them into my life. Thanks!... Thanks girls so so so so so much!!!

yea.. shall talk a lil about the tournament. There were 5 state teams. Pahang, Penang, Kl, Selangor and Us Johor. Each team played with all other 4 teams before entering the semi. In our first match, we lost to Selangor 3-2. Yea.. wat a pity. But they were good. Steady and consistent. The next day, we met Penang in the morning and we won 3-1. The same day at night, we played against KL and we won 3-1 too. Then the next day, we played against Pahang. Pahang team was expected to be very good as all 6 of the main players were from Bukit Jalil Sports School. But bcos of the team standings from previous matches, it didnt matter whether who the winner was as both of us would still bump into each other in the semifinals. So i guess Pahang did bother to put in an effort to win us. And so in the end we won, 3-0.

Then in our semifinals, against Pahang, we knew it was gonna be a tough fight. We knew they would put in their best this time to win us. So although we managed to win them previously, we did not let our guards down. And we pulled it through and managed to kick their ass, 3-1. Yea..Johor has not conquered Pahang team for many many years and we did it!.. it felt SO great.

In finals, we played against KL. We did win 3-1 but we did not perform well. But well, i m still glad that we won..:)...

So all in all, it was all worth the effort. I really learnt a lot from this entire experience. Thanks to all the coaches, supporters and of cos my darling teammates. Thanks!!!.. love all of u so much!!...

The struggle this time may be over.. but there are still so much to do and a longer journey to go before we reach our ultimate aim. So strive people!!.. go go go!!!

Chinese New Year Superstitions

1. Dirty Doings

Put your feet up and relax. Certainly the most enjoyable of the Chinese New Year superstitions, sweeping and cleaning is strictly forbidden. The Chinese believe cleaning means you'll sweep all of your good luck out the front door.

2. Time to Come Clean

Before you can enjoy number two, you need to give the house a full spring clean, before putting cleaning tools in the cupboard on New Year's Eve.

3.Bringing In the New Year and Expelling the Old

Shooting off firecrackers on New Year's Eve is the Chinese way of sending out the old year and welcoming in the New Year. On the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, every door in the house, and even windows, have to be open to allow the old year to go out.

4. Choppy Waters

Make sure you avoid rough seas in the new year by not buying shoes over the holiday period. In Cantonese, shoes are a homonym for 'rough'.

5. Balance the Books

If you're in debt, it's time to dip into your pockets and pay people off. The Chinese believe that if you start the new year in the red, you'll finish it the same way.

6. Ghostly Conversations

Caught round a campfire over the holiday period? No ghost stories. Tales of death, dying and ghosts is considered supremely inauspicious, especially during Chinese New Year.

7. Lady in Red

Chinese New Year is packed with colors, and while all the colors of the rainbow bring good luck, it's the color red that is considered the ultimate luck bringer.

8. Sweet Year

Chinese New Year offers the perfect chance to raid the sweet shop, as eating candies is said to deliver a sweeter year.

9. Feel the Breeze

Welcome in the New Year with a blast of fresh air, opening your windows is said to let in good luck.

10. Get to the PointSharp

objects are said to be harbingers of bad luck, as their sharp points cut out your good luck, pack them away. You should also avoid the hairdressers or you'll have your good luck chopped off.
